A Trip To The Zoo

Daddy and Mommy woke me up early in the morning as we were going to the zoo – it was a “date” with Gabriel… =). We arrived there early and had our breakfast at the KFC.

During our previous visits, we would try to catch all of the animal shows. But this time round, we went to see the animal feedings instead. And it was really interesting. We saw how the keeper fed the animals and the keeper also gave a detailed commentary about the animals.

Our first stop was the sealion and penguin feeding. The pelican, sealion and penguin were fed together to illustrate their coexistence in their nature habitat. One of the sealions was even chasing the penguins playfully. And the sea lions took turns to show off their tricks.

After the sealion feeding, we went over to see my favourite animal next – the bear. But this bear is covered with white fur – Daddy told me that it is a polar bear. There are two polar bears in the zoo - Sheba (the Mommy) and Inuka (the son). Inuka is a very big bear, even though he is only a “teenager”. The zoo keeper told us that a whole grown polar bear can be 3m in height.
Inuka and how tall he can be…

The Giraffe enclosure was our next stop. The giraffes came very close to us for their breakfast. I could even touch them if I stretched out my hands. But the keeper told us that we couldn’t touch them coz they were still young and we would scare them away if we did so.
See how close the giraffe came to us

We continued with the jaguar and proboscis monkey feeding as well as looking at other animal attractions before making a stop for lunch.

Our lunch was settled in the KFC at the Children Playland. How I wished I could eat some fried chicken but Mommy had prepared some home-cooked noodle for me. I couldn’t wait to finish my lunch coz I saw many other kids having fun in the nearby children playground. I had been bugging Daddy that I wanted to play with the slide since entering into the KFC. Once I was done with my lunch, I dragged Daddy out to the playground with me. The playground was really crowded and I avoided the water play area coz I didn’t have any spare clothing.

We decided to make a second last stop at the Australia Outback before calling it a day since all of us were getting tired. It was our first time here coz this attraction was still under construction during our last visit. In the enclosure, the kangaroos are free to roam around. There was even a kangaroo that hopped across our path. Daddy felt that this attraction would be more complete if there is kola bear too (actually there is one there - ME... hehe).

We got a photo with a fake kangaroo since we can’t do it with a real one

Our final stop was the elephant ride. Daddy didn’t let me have a ride coz he knew that I would probably start to drop tears when the elephant began to move. In the end, I watched Gabriel and Uncle Ben riding the elephant from the side. Gabriel looked like he was really having fun on the elephant… hehe.

We left the zoo at around and headed towards Tampines. I fell asleep immediately when I got into my car seat and remained asleep for the whole journey. I continued my nap at GongGong’s place until it was time to go home.

Daddy thought that it was a meaningful trip to the zoo as I am able to distinguish and recognize the various types of animals that we encountered in the morning visit. It is definitely much better than reading about the animals in a book or watching them from the TV.
