Feverish Wednesday

I gave Daddy and Mommy a HUGE scare today.

Nanny called Mommy after noon to inform her that I was developing high fever and she didn’t have any paracetamol with her (the bottle in the fridge was more than 3 months old). She was actually on medical leave today and it was really a blessing in disguise. She quickly came over to Nanny’s place – armed with a bottle of paracetamol and an ear thermometer.

Mommy got a HUGE shock when she saw that my temperature was a burning 39.8 degree. Immediately, she activated NaiNai to bring down the Voltaren suppository. In the meanwhile, she gave me a dose of the paracetamol and kept on sponging me (even though I was screaming and fussing).

It was very crowded at Nanny’s place this afternoon – with the additional of Mommy and NaiNai. Mommy managed to give me the Voltaren. And my temperature began to drop gradually. Mommy stayed on to monitor my condition until I fell asleep for my afternoon nap.

Session 5 @ GUG

Breakfast @ Cinnabun Tree
We went over to Cinnabun Tree for breakfast again – the food isn’t very nice but it is one of the cheaper and nearer option available. Mommy had her Manhattan breakfast (I had her toast) while Daddy tried the tuna and cheese croissant. In fact, I discovered that croissant actually tasted much better than toast today. =P

Back to the same seat again…

Mini printing session in the morning – Daddy painted an apple tree

Daddy prepared fish slice bee hoon for my lunch because I seemed to like the one we ate last night (which I ate a BIG portion). Daddy’s version looked nice and smelled nice too – even Mommy said that. He even found a use of the UHT milk (which I wasn’t keen in drinking) – that was to add into the fish slice bee hoon (since we didn’t have any evaporated milk at home)… hehe. Too bad I didn’t have any appetite, I had only a few mouthfuls and didn’t want anymore. Mommy decided to pack it out so that I could eat after my lesson. She suspected that my lost of appetite could by due to my teething.

Session 5 @ GUG
I decided to bring my doggie out for lesson this afternoon. It was the first time I did such a thing – Mommy thought that I was not feeling very well and needed a companion for comfort. I was holding on to it throughout the whole taxi ride. Daddy managed to con it away from me just before the lesson.

Bringing my doggie for a stroll

Daddy attended his maiden GUG lesson with me today (and he was the only daddy around during the session). Letter of the day was ‘U’. I was introduced to a new friend called Umber - the Umbrella bird and an object that we needed when it rains – the umbrella. We learned the concept of under, upside down and unhappy. It was storytelling time today and Teacher Evelyn told us a story about “The First Musician”. There was no arts and crafts session today, we played with water instead. We placed various objects into a basin of water and learned about floating and sinking.

Finally, I had my late lunch after the lesson @ Uncle Donald’s place. And Mommy finally realized that I didn’t eat my lunch just now because of the onion that Daddy had added into the bee hoon. After Mommy removed most of the onion (simply too much inside), I managed to eat most of the bee hoon. With a full stomach, I became livelier and started to run around the mall… =P.

Having lunch @ Uncle Donald’s place

But we didn’t hand around for too long and went home straight coz Mommy was feeling tired.

Taking Over Sleeping Duty
Daddy had been taking off the putting-me-to-sleep duty from Mommy for the past few days. In the past, Mommy was in-charge of putting me to bed. She would be my “human mattress” if I failed to knocked out after drinking a bottle of milk. When I looked for Mommy for the past few nights, Daddy would claim that Mommy was busy or showering. I had no other option but to make do with Daddy's presence.

Frog Leg Porridge

Breakfast @ Chinatown Hawker Centre
We went over to Chinatown Hawker Centre for breakfast this morning – it was the first time we ate at a place without any highchair. Daddy felt that I should be able to remain seated on the stool without much problem (which I passed with flying colours… =P). Mommy also managed to find a chair with backing (at least they didn’t need to worry about me falling down backwards from the stool). I had muffin (packed from downstairs) and Mommy’s fish ball noodle.

Yummy muffin and fish ball noodle

While I was halfway through my breakfast, Daddy went off for a while to buy fresh frog from the wet market below (Mommy would be preparing frog leg porridge for me today… sounded gross). Chinatown wet market is one of the best places to get fresh frog and it can’t be fresher – the frogs are slaughtered and sold on the spot (think Daddy will spare us the details how it is done).

Frog Leg Porridge
After getting the frog home, Mommy didn’t dare to process it. In the end, Daddy had to do it. The legs were added into the porridge while the rest of the frog was used to brew soup base for the porridge. The soup base had a fishy smell and NaiNai suggested adding a slice of ginger to it. The end result was much better as it smelled a lot nicer than before.

The porridge tasted very “sweet” (by Daddy and Mommy’s standard). However, I had only 1 mouthful and didn’t want any more (wasted Mommy’s effort). They weren’t very sure whether I didn’t like the taste of the frog or ginger and I guess them will attempted again.

In the end, I had a bit of cereal as lunch.

Playtime With NaiNai
While Mommy was taking her afternoon nap, I was fussing for her attention. Daddy wanted to let Mommy had a good rest and provided me from going to Mommy. I wasn’t happy of coz and started my usual crying and screaming. Daddy decided to carry out his “cry-out” treatment but NaiNai couldn’t stand it and interfered.

She took me out to the void deck @ Level 3. Daddy thought that it was a wonderful idea for NaiNai to spend some time alone with me (I thought he was just being lazy). We spent around 30 minutes there – playing with the slides, watching birds and running around. It must be a very tiring 30 minutes for NaiNai… hehe.

Dining Out with GuGu
We dined out with GuGu in the evening. We went to this coffeeshop style restaurant @ East Coast Road. It was that restaurant that we wanted to visit for past two occasions but was called off due to unforeseen events. We finally fulfilled our wish today.

Having my dinner with Aidan

My main course was fish slice bee hoon and stirred fried hor fun, with some white rice and mixed veggie. The bee hoon was very nice and I finished a VERY BIG portion (plus I was very hungry as I didn’t have much lunch) =P. I did self-feeding most of the time - only needed Mommy to “chop” the bee hoon to smaller pieces. Daddy commented that I am copying Sharon Aw – coz I bring my own bowl and spoon whenever I dine out.

We went back home to play for a short while after calling it a night. When leaving Aidan wanted Daddy to go home with him… =P.

Playing with Aidan on in the room

Climbing Up Stairs Unassisted
I demonstrated to Daddy and Mommy that I can actually climb up the stairs without assistance from them. Previously, I would use my left hand to hold on to the railing and “borrow” strength from Daddy’s hand with my right hand. Now, I will hold onto the railing with both hands and pulled myself up step by step. Occasionally, I will be a bit too ambition and attempted to overcome two steps with alternating steps – I still don’t have the strength to do that yet but I will succeed soon… =).

Uncle Sunny's Wedding

Daddy and Mommy brought me to Uncle Sunny’s (Mommy’s cousin) wedding dinner tonight. It was held in a Chinese restaurant @ Clarke Quay. We spent a good 15 minutes waiting for a cab – it was extremely difficult to flag down a cab on a Friday evening and equally hard to dial for a cab. Even though Daddy could book a cab, it still required us to wait for 5~7 minutes before the cab could arrive. Luckily, we managed to flag down a cab a minute after the booking – saved $4 of booking fee.

Next, we had problem locating the restaurant. The address wasn’t obvious and there was no map on the invitation card to indicate the actual location. Fortunately, God Granddad gave us a more precise direction through the phone and we finally found it.

The restaurant is located @ the Second level and it is rather small but cosy. It was a boring event for me as I was the only toddler around. Furthermore, there were so many unfamiliar faces around and I didn’t even dare to set my feet on the ground – clinging on to Daddy or Mommy all the time. Daddy entertained me most of the time by showing me the decorations in the restaurant. It took him a full 30 minutes before he successfully “con” me down to walk around the place on my own.

Bribed with puffs to sit in the high chair

Just like any traditional Chinese wedding banquet, the banquet began only @ 8.45pm. But around that time, I was very sleepy and fell asleep on Mommy’s shoulder shortly. I slept through the whole dinner – Daddy and Mommy were the happiest people around coz they could fully enjoyed their food. =(.
Sleeping peacefully in my pram throughout the dinner

I only managed to wake up when dessert was served – talking about prefect timing. We had a stroll along the Singapore River to catch a bus home.

Posing for some photos along the way

Finally we arrived home at around 11.30pm – it was the first time I stayed out until this late.

Nanny's Day Off

Nanny took a day of leave from Daddy and Mommy today. So, I would not be going over to Nanny’s place today and Mommy took leave to look after me @ home as Daddy had something to attend to at work.

A Day With Mommy
The day started off with Mommy taking me downstairs for a morning walk and we bought her breakfast as well. There was a book fair downstairs (in fact, there is always some form of fairs there all year round) and Mommy bought some stickers and a sticker album so that I could entertain myself later.

I took my morning nap at around 11.30am. Just when Mommy thought that I would take a 2 hours nap, I woke up just after an hour. Fortunately NaiNai was back and Mommy could prepare my lunch while NaiNai attended to me. Mommy decided to pack my lunch and bring me out for lunch.

It was the first time Mommy brought me out alone (Daddy commented that it was a remarkable effort from Mommy). We went to Raffles City where I had lunch next to the fountain area @ Basement 1 – it was a good place because the fountain served as a distraction for me.

Lunching beside the fountain

“Wei wei…” Daddy called us

Maybe I should consider working part-time =P

We even had afternoon tea @ Bakerzin. Mommy shared a slice of strawberry shortcake with me. It was really yummy that I managed to self-feed half of that cake. I went home a happy toddle… =P
Afternoon tea @ Bakerzin

I was still very active when I reached home @ around 5.30pm. Despite the fact that I had only an hour of nap in the morning, I showed no sign that I wanted my afternoon. Mommy suspected that it was probably due to cake overdosed… =P.

Daddy’s Back
Mommy was so glad to see Daddy home tonight – probably due to Esther overdosed… =P. Finally her shift was over as Daddy took over. I wasn’t an unreasonable gal – I did allow Daddy to read to me and play with me while Mommy took her much deserved rest (usually I will insist Mommy to do it). I even showed daddy my new sticker album.

Toys and More Toys

When I came home this evening, I was greeted with a lot of new toys (from Daddy and Mommy) – there were one instrument set (with drum set, recorder (too young to play), shakers and bells) and some plastic fruits. I knew that Daddy and Mommy must have taken leaves from work and went out without me again. Each time they did that, they would end up buying toys/stuffs for me (I think they feel kind of guilty =P).

The instrument set and Plastic fruits

Anyway, I was more interested in the instrument set and started playing with them immediately.

They even bought me a pair of trainer chopstick since I liked to play with Daddy/Mommy’s chopsticks. =)

Session 4 @ GUG

Breakfast @ Amara Hotel
We went over to Amara Hotel’s shopping centre for breakfast this morning. Initially, Mommy wanted to have BK breakfast. But she went to try out this new café (Cinnabun Tree) in the end. Daddy ordered a chocolate doughnut for me but Mommy didn’t passed it as it was cold (best eaten cold). In the end, I had half of Mommy’s toast – I love toast anyway. =)

Breakfast @ a new hangout

After the light breakfast, we went to the playground on the Level 3 void deck as Mommy wanted to expense my energy. She was hoping that I would feel tired after a short session @ the playground – tired enough for my scheduled nap @ 11.30am. I am a more confident climber (up the ladder) and confident slider (down the slide). I am able to use my hands to slow myself down when required.

Expensing my energy @ the playground

I wouldn’t say that Mommy’s “wore-me-out” strategy worked to perfection as I only managed to fell asleep after 30 minutes of coaxing/threatening/patting (better late than never I guessed). Eventually, I was woken up from my nap by Daddy @ 1.15pm as the duty chef (Mommy) had prepared my lunch.

Session 4 @ GUG
Having my revision on the taxi

Letter on that day was ‘T’. Tiger begins with the letter ‘T’ and terry bear also begins with the letter ‘T’ (I have both @ home =)). Today’s arts and crafts session was a potentially “dangerous” session as we were required to paint a tiger with orange paint (with our hands) and add stripes onto the tiger (you seldom see a stripeless tiger, right?). We even had to mix our own orange paint with red and yellow paints. It was a potentially “dangerous” act because I would dirty the objects around me which I did - I dirtied my dress and my face. =P

Walking around looking for a pair of new shoes

Daddy and Mommy decided that it was time to hunt for a new pair of shoes for me as I will be outgrowing my current pair soon. They saw a pair at Shooz 4 Kiz (some brand from Germany) with very good support around the ankle area (but it costs $79.90). The price is way too steep. I guessed Daddy and Mommy would look for other options or wait for the GSS discount (if any). While we were walking around the mall, we saw one of my friend’s (Quinn) photo in the mall. Daddy couldn’t confirm that it is Quinn until he saw Aunty Serene’s face in the photo. Quinn looked a bit different in that photo (he kind of looked fleshier)… =P
Does this photo look familiar?

There was a Hush Puppies warehouse sale at Basement 1 of the mall. A lot of people were there (as if everything was free =P). Daddy left Mommy there while he brought me to Uncle Donald’s place to have my afternoon milk. It wasn’t a big surprise to see Mommy going through the piles of clothing when we went back there to look for her after my milk… =P. In the end, Mommy bought 7 more pieces of clothes (assorted tops and bottoms) for me. Feeling tired from the “workout”, we went back to Uncle Donald’s place to have bite.

Having a bite @ Uncle Donald’s place

Oh ya, Daddy met up with Aunty Michelle to collect more books for me. I didn’t go with him as I was trying out some shoes with Mommy at Basement 1. I could wait and start reading in the taxi on the way home.

When we reached home, we discovered that NaiNai also bought some clothes for me too. Now I had more clothes to wear… hehe.
More books for me… hehe

My 14th, 15th and 16th Tooth
Daddy spotted my 14th, 15th and 16th tooth (left upper canine, left and right bottom canine) cutting out my gum. That would explain the occasional watery stool that I had recently. No major complains from me, although I tends to be a bit more clingy… =(
