Sentosa Getaway: Day 1
Hi everyone, I will be going to a short getaway with Daddy and Mommy this long weekend (my very first holiday). To where??? Well… long story.
To begin with, Mommy longed for a holiday sincethe honeymoon trip to New Zealand. Daddy’s work commitments and my arrival delayed their travelling plan until now. This time round, Mommy suggested going to Hong Kong (to a 买东西,吃东西 type getaway). After much discussion and research, Daddy and Mommy decided to shelf that idea. They heard from their friends that Hong Kong is a very crowded and baby unfriendly place.
Then, Daddy thought of going to a nearby island (to have a resort type getaway). He shortlisted Langkawi as the first choice destination. But the overall package turned out to be way too expensive. After much consideration, they dropped the idea of going overseas (main problems over my logistic issues – food, travel arrangements, what if I fall sick etc).
In the end, we are still going on a getaway. Being patriotic citizens, they decided to go to Sentosa and pump money into local tourism industry instead. Anyway, I will be spending two nights there. I heard that Daddy and Mommy had lots of program lined up for me – so exciting.
Setting Off
Dad had been packing the bags since last night. He was nagging away as my stuffs filled up a big bag and a backpack (my diaper bag). Daddy couldn’t imagine the amount of stuffs he needed to bring if we were to stay for a few more days.

Setting Off
Dad had been packing the bags since last night. He was nagging away as my stuffs filled up a big bag and a backpack (my diaper bag). Daddy couldn’t imagine the amount of stuffs he needed to bring if we were to stay for a few more days.
It was a bad start for our getaway as it started to pour heavily when we were about to leave for Sentosa (there went our plan for a cable car ride). Daddy tried to dial a cab but he couldn’t get through. Luckily, it didn’t take us long to flag down a cab which took us straight to Rasa-Sentosa.
The Arrival
The taxi ride was rather short (and the taxi driver’s face was quite black when he knew that we were going to Sentosa). We didn’t manage to get a sea-view room. The consolation was we still manage to have a half sea-view room (a corner unit) which is supposed to be slightly bigger and quieter.
The rain was still pretty heavy and we couldn’t do much. Daddy and Mommy used this time to unpack our stuffs while I roamed around and explored the room – TV, fridge, toilet, a small wardrobe and a lot of switches for me to play with… =)
Exploring the room
Roaming Around Nearby
Once the rain became lighter, we got out of the room and roamed around (we didn’t go too far away from the hotel coz it was still drizzling and it would be time for dinner soon).
All geared to brave the drizzle
We visited the Underwater World since it is just nearby. Daddy wasn’t keen in going inside coz we had just visited it during the last visit (plus that place was very crowded today). We just hanged around the exterior exhibits for a while before proceeding to Sisolo Beach.
The BIG turtle
The BIG stingray
Sisolo Beach is just in front of our hotel and Mommy’s plan was for me to visit it everyday throughout our stay. Since it was raining today, we were restricted to just a stroll on the beach. Daddy insisted that I dirtied my feet by walking barefooted on the sand. I was a bit reluctant at first and froze on the spot when Daddy placed me down onto the sand. I only managed to move around after some pulling-pushing from Daddy.
I had a stroll on the uneven sandy floor and posed for some pictures on a nearby breakwater. Before we knew it, it was time for dinner.
Buffet Dinner @ Silver Shell Café
The buffet spread seemed very nice (with a wide spread of varieties) at first glance. But when Daddy and Mommy went for their second round, it didn’t look that impressive after all. I had a bit of grilled salmon, broccoli, steamed rice, fried udon, egg and biscuits as my main course, ate some fruits (pineapple, papaya, honeydew) and completed with strawberry ice-cream for dessert… =). Mommy was a happy woman too (coz she finally had some oysters).
We headed back to our room after dinner. There wasn’t much to do at night. Daddy and Mommy decided to chill out in front of the TV while I continued exploring the room.
Mommy said after toilet must flush
I turned in early coz Mommy said there would be more program for me tomorrow (Hopefully the sun will come out to chase away the rain cloud).
