Playground: Zoo Excursion

Bidding NaiNai good bye with a flying kiss

The whole family woke up very early this morning even though today is a Sunday. And I left home early without a shower and breakfast coz I had a date with the rest of the playgroup gang - a zoo excursion.

Excursion To Mandai Zoo

We were the second family to arrive @ the zoo (after Athena’s family). While waiting for Sharwyn and Gabriel’s families to arrive, I had my breakfast @ KFC (raisin bun and whipped potato).

Breakfast @ KFC

Our first stop was to catch the “Wonders of the Wild” animal show @ the amphitheatre. Along the way, we saw many different species of animal (mainly primates). I guessed we were too early coz we didn’t manage to see much animals around (either they were all sleeping or they were too well camouflaged). I wanted Mommy to carry me most of the way while the rest of my friends were either sitting in the prams or walking willingly on their own.

A free-roaming peacock attracted our attention. All of us stopped to take a look. We were warned not to get to close to it coz it was having its breakfast (no one wanted to mess with a hungry peacock). Gabriel was the bravest as he wondered very near it. I almost walked VERY near it coz I was trying to walked to Mommy (who was taking photos on the other side). Lucky, Daddy pulled me back in time… =P.

Animal Show @ Amphitheatre
Although it was my 2nd time to the zoo and to the “Wonders of the Wild” animal show, it was my 1st time watching it (1st time – I was too busy fussing and drinking my morning milk). It was interesting to see primates swinging so close above our heads. And we got a scare when we discovered that there was a snake in a bag placed right behind us. Luckily we weren’t seated in the first few rows coz the playful sealion was splashing water towards the crowd.

Children’s World Playland
We didn’t waste any time and hit straight to the Children’s world playland’s children pool immediately after the animal show (before we started to get cranky and sleepy).

The children playground and pool were so crowded today (with a lot of older KorKors and JieJies running around). I got out of my jeans and got into my shorts. At frist, I wasn’t keen in getting myself wet (coz the water was cold and I hate getting water onto my face). All of my friends were happily playing in the water (Athena and Gabriel had the most fun). I clung onto Mommy as if my life depended on it. As usual, I only managed to warm up after some time. I started to walk around the swallow pool (not more than 1 metre away from the pool edge). In the end, I had a lot of fun – until Daddy had to drag me out of the water… =P.

It was really fun… =)

The Picnic
We had our picnic in a nearby shelter. Each family brought some food: we brought fruits (jackfruit, watermelon and grapes), Sharwyn and Gabriel brought curry puffs, chicken pies, sausage puffs and sugar rolls while Athena brought agar agar and sushi. My lunch was simply bites of raisin bun, sugar roll, jackfruit and watermelon (Daddy and Mommy are getting more and more relax on my meal).
At the picnic

After the picnic, we knocked out one by one. I was the first to go, followed by Athena. The adults decided to call it a day and we slowly made our way out. By the time we reached the zoo’s exit, Sharwyn was the only toddler still awake (Gabriel also knocked out when we were half way out). My nap didn’t last long though (only 1 hour as I woke up when we arrived home).

What a fun-filled day for me, I hope to have more excursions… =).
